Personally, I am hoping that the groundhog does whatever he needs to do today to make winter go away. I live in Vermont and "should" love winter, but I don't. Sure, I'll go out on cross country skis or snowshoes and I'll have have fun playing in the snow...for a very short period of time. At the end of the day, though, I am a warm weather person. My skin is olive, I don't sweat, and I thrive in humidity.
What warms my cold heart, however, is Valentine's Day. Yeah, yeah, it can be a bit schmaltzy, but hey, it's fun, it's warm and cozy, and it's about CHOCOLATE!
So get online, visit the Vermont Shortbread Company web site, and place your order now for our NEW bite-sized Valentine hearts or a chocolate shortbread gift box.
Do it today so your shortbread arrives by Valentine's Day, 12 days away, February 14, 2007.
Here's to warmth! Here's to love!

Hi Ann,
we are having our last blast of winter this weekend, it is supposed to get to 31 tonight - move to Texas!! "Texas Shortbread Company" - has a bit of a ring. Or, The Shortbread Company formerly known as Vermont...
I can't seem to find the lovely new Heart-shaped valentine shortbreads on the VSC site - can you tell me where to fine them?

I'm right there with you, Ann. Winter loses its appeal for me as soon as the Christmas lights come down. I thought we were going to escape the big freeze this year, but alas, there is snow on the ground and the skies are dank and gray. I love to feel the hot sun beating down upon my shoulders again.
What the heck is going on in Texas this year? And how come we're not having a heat wave up here on the east coast as a way to counterbalance your winter chill?
I will say that I made it up to Vermont for skiing in Februaries past and was glad for the experience. I'm a pretty bad skiier, but the party atmosphere, lovely snow and crisp, frosty air really does something to bring a person out of the funk despite numb toes.
Back to the grind.
