Hello, shortbreadheads, it's been quite a couple of weeks!
The Shelburne Farms Food and Wine Festival was a great success; a lovely day with some great shortbread contacts. I'm working on some local retail contacts which I can tell you more about just as soon as the details are firmed up.
I took off for a week of golf and sun (except there was very little sun) in Virginia Beach after that and returned home to some sad news of a dear friend who had fallen gravely ill. We think she's out of the woods now, but it will be a slow recovery. This made me take a step back and evaluate my minor complaints and approach the rest of the week's challenges with bittersweet vigor.
All the while, last week, I was training a new baker and getting ready for the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The Big E was wonderful and the rain held off. It had threatened to rain in the a.m., but we had a lovely partly sunny and warm day in front of the Vermont building selling a ton of shortbread and meeting folks from all over New England. I even got to see my old high school boyfriend at the fair (he's not old, but high school was a few decades ago...) which was fun. Now I can't get Stairway to Heaven out of my brain (I think it was the high school official slow dance of 1979). Luckily, old boyfriend likes shortbread, we're still friends, and he has some great contacts in my home state, Connecticut.
Photos of all the fun and shortbread events will follow, just as soon as I unpack, catch my breath and clean up my desk.
Can you believe it's almost holiday shortbread season? Can you believe it's October? We're ready and waiting in the Vermont Shortbread Company bakery. Bring it on!

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun over there! Keep up the great work!

Goodness, you do get around, don't you!
Yo ho, friendly reminder... it's time to change the little photo in the left hand menu bar of your homepage to the fall scenery and link that to the October Shortbread page.

Ann! I am so happy that your friend is on the mend. I was worried for you, her and her family. Please let her know that we in Montpelier are sending her healing thoughts and hope that the road to recovery has few pot holes. Can't wait for you to post the snap shots from the BIG E!! Oh and hope I will soon be able to purchase your yummy shortbites at the Hunger Mountain Coop and Morse Farm very soon;) hint hint
