It occurs to me that I should probably add a page to the Vermont Shortbread Company web site showing the ever-expanding list of retail locations now selling our gourmet shortbread. After years of being primarily internet-based, the wholesale market is a new experience and like any new experience, I've got a lot to learn.
The reason for the post, however, is to proudly announce that Leunig's Bistro and Old World Cafe now features Vermont Shortbread on their dessert menu. I met Executive Chef Donnell at the Shelburne Farms Food and Wine Festival (it occurs to me I haven't posted photos yet...arggggghhhh!). She loved the product and has teamed our traditional shortbread up with warm apple compote and ice cream from Island Homemade Ice Cream in Grand Isle. Now, I've met Gary and Patty of Island Homemade Ice Cream at several local foodie events and I adore their product and their energy. Their philosophy (slow, controlled growth) is very much in alignment with my own. So, I'm honored that my product and their product are melting together on a pretty plate at one of Burlington's hippest, happening restaurants.
A big thanks to Donnell at Leunig's for recognizing our shortbread's brilliance and potential. I'm hoping other respected Vermont eateries follow suit. I'm working on it! :-)
I have yet to taste this dessert, but I'll be dining at Leunig's next week with the famous Amy of Amy's Granola and I'll try to snap a photo of the dessert...that is if we don't snarf it down too quickly!
